The Russian Air Force Il-106 is a military transport plane designed and developed by Ilyushin Aviation Complex to operate without runway taking off and landing vertically. The Il-106 will feature a maximum takeoff weight of 80-to-100 tons operating from dirt runways. The final design of the new aircraft is expected to be complete by 2017. This new tactical transport aircraft may be utilizing a tilt-rotor design similar to the future US Army JHL.
